Namaste, Derek

Born in New York City, I have traveled extensively, from Canada to Mexico and throughout the United States, to the Caribbean and to Jamaica, where I spent time with some of the tigers, panthers and leopards that I have painted. I’ve always had a love of the earth and animals of all kinds. When I was six years old, I followed a horse and a carnival out of town, and had to ask someone to help me to get back home! Since that grand adventure, I’ve made many trips to zoos, national parks, and places such as Fossil Rim, a wildlife center about two hours from my residence, in order to obtain accurate reference material for my work.

A self-taught artist, I delight in sharing my vivid memories in artistic creations, which have been purchased locally, nationally and internationally. Although you may view more work on my website, www.AntoinetteArt.net, I track where visitors come from, and will only sell through eBay to anyone who arrives from this reference point.

Until last year I didn’t sign my own name to my work, only using pseudonyms such as Letterman, Andrew, Anderson, Kimber, Jason Timber, Dana, Lee Reynolds, D. Smith, Parker Simith, DJ, Hruby, others… finally, after the urging of many friends and other artists, and after having had several of my works stolen such as Cashmere and Elephant Walk to mention only two that have been illegally reproduced and sold in department stores by a company we have finally put out of business, I have decided to sign my name to my work. I acknowledge that whatever talent I have is God-given. I hope you enjoy my attempts to portray His wonderful creatures.
